Adam Vorhis is one of only 286 attorneys in the entire State of Florida to be board certified in marital and family law. Board certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of evaluation of the competency and experience of attorneys in the 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Board certified Florida Bar members are the only Florida attorneys allowed to identify themselves as experts.
Adam Vorhis is a former partner and of counsel to the firm and has brought with him extensive litigation expertise and leadership skills. As an undergraduate, he distinguished himself amongst his fellow classmates by serving as the director of the Department of Legislative Affairs (a non-partisan student lobbying group). He also served in student government as a Senator. While a law student at the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Mr. Vorhis served on the Moot Court team’s Executive Board and also represented the school as a student ambassador. Furthermore, he formerly served as president of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Eighth Judicial Circuit Chapter.
Mr. Vorhis has spent his legal career honing his litigation skills in both the private and the public sectors. Upon graduating from the Levin College of Law in 2004, he was hired as an associate attorney at Liles, Gavin, Costantino & Murphy, a law firm in Jacksonville, Florida. During his tenure at the firm, he performed substantial work in both state as well as federal courts on cases involving wrongful death, contract and property disputes, personal injury, and products liability. In 2005, Mr. Vorhis became an Assistant State Attorney for the Office of the State Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, spending most of his time there prosecuting criminal trials. Mr. Vorhis has been admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida since passing the state bar in 2004.
Since his time as an assistant state attorney, Mr. Vorhis has been working primarily in the area of marital and family law, becoming board certified on June 1, 2015.
